SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN

Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) mission is to lead the Department of Defense (DoD) in finance and accounting by ensuring the delivery of efficient, exceptional quality pay and financial information. Major duties: Supervises and directs functions in support of accounting transactions related to payments and collections, and material transactions for goods and services for the organization. Oversees the accomplishment of technical work in accordance with policy, directives, regulations, and reporting requirements. Interprets regulations, requirements, and policies, including changes, updates, and automated systems modifications, to ensure compliance. Ensures accuracy, propriety, and legality of accounting transactions through extensive review of documents and for process improvement, through ongoing analysis of customer needs, to increase productivity and quality. Evaluates work performance of subordinates and prepares performance standards, evaluations and improvement plans. Provides advice, counsel, and instruction to employees on both work-related and administrative matters
