Mechanical Engineer

About the Position: Serves as a senior Mechanical Engineer, responsible for developing mechanical designs; performing technical reviews of mechanical designs developed by Architectural-Engineering firms (A-E), and resolving mechanical design related problems arising during construction for a wide range of conventional and unconventional mechanical design features. Recruitment or Relocation incentive may be authorized if found in the best interest of the government. Major duties: Performs, reviews or directs the survey and investigations at the project site to determine condition of facilities and to secure the necessary data prior to initiating design and evaluates the data obtained. Evaluates design objectives, performs and/or reviews complex technical engineering calculations for mechanical systems. Designs, prepares, and/or review mechanical drawings, specifications and supporting documents from initial project scoping through construction completion. Reviews and evaluates shop drawings, samples, and material certifications submitted by contractor for contract and performance requirements, recommending approval, rejection, or receipt. Provides independent technical review of A/E or in-house designs, specifications, and reports as related to mechanical issues.
